Composite Variety Production
Main steps in the production of composite variety are listed below.
Procedure or Steps to develop Composite Variety
- Selection of parent material (diverse lines)
- Intercrossing of selected parental genotypes
- Evaluation of crosses made, superior heterotic combinations (progenies with desirable heterosis) are selected and advanced to further generations.
- Parental seeds of superior crosses are mixed to constitute the variety
- Variety release
